Behind the Scenes: Every Sample is Cut & Sent by Me

When I started my fabric and wallpaper business, I imagined a day when I might hand over sampling duties and focus purely on design. Yet here I am, still ironing, cutting, and packing every single sample myself.

A Personal Touch in Every Sample

Unlike big brands with warehouses and packing teams, my studio works a little differently—because it’s just me! Every fabric sample that leaves my hands has been carefully ironed, cut, and packed with thoughtfulness and precision.

My favourite memo to cut?

Trio of petite dots. Because I don't need ruler (the honest answer). The simplicity of that one is so pretty. What I will say is those seemingly simple small scale designs, are often the hardest to design - not as easy as it looks!

Whilst I work

I always have a cup of lapsang tea on the go while I work, and if it’s a long afternoon of packing samples, I’ll put on an podcast—usually something historical! (Lately, I’ve been enjoying Violet Manners' Hidden Heritage podcast—a perfect pairing for an afternoon with fabric and wallpaper.) The Emma Bridgewater episode especially - I admire her so. And the Phoebe Dickinson episode was lovely too.

Why Samples Matter

A fabric or wallpaper sample is the first step in bringing a room to life. I know how important it is to see and feel the material before making a decision. That’s why I take great care in ensuring each sample is a true reflection of the final design—so you can picture it perfectly in your home
